Before you begin
Before starting the trademark application process, it is strongly recommended to verify the availability of the name or sign you wish to register.
It is important to search for existing trademarks, including those with pending applications. This will help you identify any identical or similar marks, allowing you to make an informed decision. If your trademark infringes on the rights of another individual or legal entity, it cannot be registered under any circumstances.
To properly conduct the search, we advise consulting the Nice Classification, an international classification system used to categorize goods and services for the purpose of trademark registration.

Steps to conduct a Prior Art Search:
- - Create an account on the INAPI website, or log in if you already have one.
- - On your dashboard, click on the "Trademark" section, then select "New Prior Art Search.".
- - Fill in the required fields with the necessary information.

- Print the payment order.
- Make the payment at any CNEP agency.
Note: Payment must be made in cash only at a CNEP agency (available nationwide). No other payment method will be accepted.
- - Once the payment is made, please upload your payment receipt to the platform. Then, return to your personal space on the INAPI website.

- Click on My Searches” under the Trademark.
- Go to the third section titled Payment Information, then click on More Info.
Next, enter the payment details as shown on your receipt.
Scan and upload the payment receipt, then submit your request.

Applicable Fees:
- • Similarity search (up to 3 classes): 3 000 DA
- • Similarity search (more than 3 classes): 6000 DA
- • Exact match search (1 trademark + 1 class):
1600 DA
• Each additional class : 400 DA
Note: It is recommended to make the payment before filling out the search request form. Creating a customer account on the INAPI platform is required to submit your request.
Results:
You will receive your search report within 48 hours, either by email (to the address indicated in the form) or in person, depending on the option you selected.
