Filing an Application for Registration of an Appellation of Origin
Filing the Registration Application:
The application for the registration of an appellation of origin may be submitted on behalf of:
- any legally established and authorized institution,
- any natural or legal person engaged in production within the designated geographical area,
- any competent authority.
Each application for the registration of an appellation of origin must include:
a) the name, address, and activity of the applicant;
b) the appellation of origin concerned, as well as the related geographical area;
c) the list of products intended to be covered by the appellation;
d) reference to the relevant legal text on the appellation, which must include:
- the specific characteristics of the products covered by the appellation of origin,
- the conditions for the use of the appellation of origin, particularly regarding labeling requirements as defined in a regulation of use;
e) and, where applicable, the list of authorized users.
